Lake Ontario PDF Download

This piece was written for Carmen’s Guinean flute, the tambin and guitar. It draws on the Saharan blues of Tinariwen and on polyrhythms built from interacting cycles of two and three. The result is groove-driven and subtly pop-inflected, grounded in the instrument’s earthy timbre. It extends the album’s conversation about place and cross-cultural influence, in dialogue with the history of the tambin across West and Central Africa.
